Bethesda CT Suite

Description:

Location:  Steinbach, Manitoba

Client:  Diagnostic Services of Manitoba

Project Duration/Completion:  Completed June 2012

The Bethesda Hospital CT project included renovations associated with the provision of a Catscan Scanner System including architectural, electrical, and mechanical upgrades. As well as the erection of a link (covered walkway lined with 5/8” fire rated drywall) between existing hospital and a mobile Catscan trailer. The mobile Catscan trailer was removed once renovations were completed for permanent location of Catscan Scanner System.

Being a remote community it was critical to maintain a functioning CT scanner for the hospital as it served as a hub to neighbouring communities. To achieve this, our TEAM provided a mobile scanner with a fully watertight bridge link in to the side wall of the hospital including

lighting and fire safety measures. This allowed for the expansion of the old CT suite to accommodate the new modality. As the new CT demanded more cooling, and the base building system could not sustain the additional load, a secondary ductless split A/C unit was installed in the room. Upon completion of the new scan room including new flooring IPAC sink and modified millwork, the new scanner was commissioned and running with a two day overlap before removal of the mobile unit. The project was a great success with zero downtime of the CT scanner.
